Streisand Effect Complete As Celtic Symphony Sang At LOI Terraces

A video has emerged of St. Pats fans belting out the Wolfe Tone's Celtic Symphony at Richmond Park last night.                 October 15th, 2022.
Pats took on Bohemians, whom they beat 3-1, and the controversial 'ooh ah up the ra' lyrics can be heard loud and clear in the clip below.

The video of the Irish women's football team's rendition of the song, following their sensational World Cup qualifying win over Scotland, has dominated headlines and social media conversation since Tuesday.

Unsurprisingly, this has lead to the 'Streisand effect' rearing its head, as evidenced in the clip of the from yesterday's League of Ireland fixture.

A definition of the phenomenon, taken from the internet, goes as follows: "The Streisand effect is a phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of increasing awareness of that information, often via the Internet."

It takes its name from the legendary actress/singer, after she tried to suppress a photo of her cliff-top Malibu mansion from being shared, which inadvertently drew greater attention to it in 2003.

Some of the talk around the subject has centred on the meaning of the song, with many arguing that it shouldn't be viewed as offensive, due to the fact that it is about Celtic FC and graffiti.

"Graffiti on the walls just as the sun was going down,
I seen graffitti on the walls( Of the CELTS, Of the CELTS),
Graffitti on the walls that says we're Magic, We're Magic,
Graffiti on the walls.......Graffiti on the walls........
And it said..............
Ooh ah up the Ra, say ooh ah up the Ra (x6)."
