Belfast Councillor: Jolene Bunting (Image: Niall Carson/PA)
28th July, 2018.
A row has erupted between Britain First and Belfast Councillor Jolene Bunting.
The party made an allegation against the Independent Councillor on Friday night and said that she has been ‘proscribed’ by Britain First.
Bunting has in the past been pictured with their leader Paul Golding and deputy leader Jayda Fransen.
Speaking to Belfast Live on Saturday morning Cllr Bunting said that she will be taking legal advice.
She added: “It’s absolutely not true.”
The row comes ahead of a Britain First meeting planned for Newtownards on Saturday.
The group said that it was to hold the meeting outside the entrance of the council-owned Ards Leisure Centre, despite the council saying that it doesn’t accept bookings from political parties at any of its leisure facilities.
Britain First leader Paul Golding posted a video on social media to tell people about the meeting and described Newtownards as “patriotic British culture, undisturbed by political correctness”.

Green Party North Down and Ards Borough Councillor Rachel Woods said: “Their efforts to infiltrate the borough will fall flat like most of their other stunts and I will be happy to see the back of the whole charade.”
A spokesperson from Ards and North Down Borough Council said: “Ards and North Down Borough Council became aware of this meeting on Tuesday 24 July.
“We have sought advice from the PSNI. The Council does not accept bookings from political parties at any of its leisure facilities and we have not given permission for this organisation to congregate on council property. We are working with PSNI to limit the impact of this meeting on the local community.
