Forget about the protocol, It's all about the money as far as Jeffrey's concerned.
A few days after coaxing more than 12,000 people to give him first preference vote he said "right, that's me, I'm off." It's hard to describe it as anything other than a con job. He repeatedly said he would lead his party into the political institutions but instead he legged it back to London, leaving the Executive struck in the mud of the Protocol.
Theresa May reminds Jeffrey and his party if they hadn't voted against her Bill they wouldn't have a protocol to be worried about.
An issue he and his party helped create, as former Prime Minister Theresa May reminded him in the House of Commons where he could only listen with a sheepish expression on his face as she put him on the naughty step. The DUP will co-opt someone to take his seat in the Assembly - somebody they didn't vote for. There was always the sense his heart wasn't in it when it became clear he would have to choose between London and Belfast.
But then there's been a lack of honesty from the day the DUP hitched their wagon to the Tories and their pals in the hardline (ERG) European Research Group. Voters in Lagan Valley have not seen their faith in him being repaid.
